Bill sl, "Bill Request for Funding for Israel Fest, Annual Cultural Festival Celebrating Israeli Culture Open to All Students," Submitted by mharar2, Melissa Harari Treasurer.
College Council has approved $3,636 of the requested budget of $5200 for Israel Fest. We have applied for grants and have received $300, but we still need $1000 to pay the rest of the food expenses, as we need Kosher Israeli food for all students on campus that will attend the event, which we expect to be 400 people. Israel Fest is scheduled for Tuesday, April 17th from 4-6pm at Asbury Circle. The event is designed to showcase Israeli culture through art exhibits, a live DJ playing Israeli music, student club performances, authentic kosher Israeli food, and more. This is not a political event, but it is aimed to raise cultural awareness and encourage positive dialogue for those who are interested in doing so. We believe that listening to each other and learning about other diverse cultures is the key to a healthy community. .
Therefore, be it enacted by the 49th Student Legislature of Emory University that Emory Students for Israel receive $1000 to pay for food expenses to express cultural awareness at Israel Fest, which is open to all students on campus..
